Snail pace Opera = pathetic

This morning I got the updated version of Opera (Version:66.0.3515.36) for Windows 10. Now its gone from being moderately slow to almst a snail pace, s what is wrong with Opera?

Yes, I have cleared my cache i do that daily for what good it does, and no i dont have addons, apart from Opera's own version of Adblocker.

So care to explain why Opera is on par with the old Internet Explorer. Luckily I also use Firefox for running my own websites because I cant rely on Opera to get beyond the growser page without it hanging and then crashing.
