Home button in Opera

I get that Opera is neat and I like some features. But please you can't put a home button on top? With so much real estate taken up with sidebar, extensions, Speed Dial, etc you couldn't find space for 1 icon? I have tired most if not all Browsers and like some features ( VPN ) on Opera but this is just nuts. And yes, I did a search for Home Page and got 53 pages with no way to sort by date nor a single answer other than sorry we don't have that feature.

The start page is meant to be your homepage. Each Speed Dial on the start page is meant to be a separate homepage button. The start page button on the address bar is a homepage button because the start page is your homepage.
You can install https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/home-button-at-top-right/bfejcgpdahgpmgadhgdadfiekmhgnifm to add a home button to the address bar. In its options, you can set what page it loads when you click it.

@ikiran007 When I goto https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/home-button-at-top-right/bfejcgpdahgpmgadhgdadfiekmhgnifm in Opera, Opera automatically asks me to download the extension in a toolbar. I accept, it installs the "install Chrome extensions" extension and then refreshes the page. I then, click "add to Opera" on the page. It then adds to Opera and opens the
opera://extensions
page where I click "install" and then "Yes, install". Then, it's installed and works. -

@leocg the "start page" is the home screen, meaning the screen that you go to when you open a new tab or start a new browser session.

@artexjay Yeah I get that, and have set Opera to use a specific Home page when it opens, but sometimes if I have a bunch of pages open or go away from the home page it would be nice to just have the Home icon next to Speed Dial. And as burnout said Speed Dial could work just not as simple. For example My Speed Dial has 15 buttons most of which I only went to once months ago. But I was able to move My Yahoo home page by dragging it to the top. And to help the others Opera Extensions are pretty lame so you have to install Chrome Extensions ( I have 10). The 1st Opera extension I put up is Install Chrome and then Last Pass. But it would be nice with the Install extenstion if I didn't have to appove it every single time I download a new extention. And even tho I have had to reinstall Opera dozens of times ( due to OS crashes etc) it has always worked fine.

SpeedDial acts as a Home - as said previously -.
The button is near the beginning of the Address Bar.
You can change the SD and use a unique website such as Netvibes.

This is how most people use a browser for the last 30 years:
- Open browser
- Enter a Text based search..
- When completed search. press HOME, and repeat.
The Home button requires one click, or one hot key.
It is used repeatedly, over and over and over, as a convenient 'reset'.
The 'Speed Dial' is 2 clicks. This is twice as many as 1.
People have politely tried to point this out for many years.
However, I think the time for politeness has passed, because, the message doesn't seem to be sinking in.The speed dial is not a substitute for home.
The speed dial is an embarrassment. Damn it to hellPut a Home button on the browser.

@leocg I know its an old post but it was just useful to me right now. I use always use Symbaloo as my homepage for all desktop. I suppose it is just a glorified bookmark page but its really quite convenient to use and feels more intuitive (though maybe that's just motor reflex). Also all change is terrible!
