Netflix Problem: Videos don't play

Starting yesterday Opera Beta 65.0.3467.32 won't play anything on Netflix, although it works fine in Firefox. I understand there was a thread about this some time ago relating to regular Opera, does anybody know if this problem is going to be fixed in the Beta version ?

Since the update of the windows 65.0.3467.48 desktop application, you cannot play anything from netflix because it indicates that the streaming title is not available. apparently wideline is disabled. Could you solve this?

If that's the case, you can try to fix it.

Goto the URL opera://about and take note of the "profile" path. Close down Opera and goto that folder in Windows Explorer. Delete the "WidevineCdm" folder there.

Start Opera and goto the URL opera://components. You should see Widevine Content Decryption Module - Version: 0.0.0.0. Click "Check for update". It should then fetch Widevine and update the version too "4.10.1582.2" for example. When it's done, close the tab, restart Opera and try again.

If that doesn't help, you can goto the URL opera://flags/#chromium-ua-compatibility and enable it. Then, restart Opera and try again.

Hey, it's 2021 and this issue hasn't been fixed on the main opera build… but I found a way that doesn't nees to tweak with the Experiments (I also don't think Widevine is available there anymore).

First I opened the Opera Components tab by typing chrome://components, but the update function did nothing. I went to the extensions store but couldn't find Widevine Content Decryption Module there, so basically I installed the "Install Chrome Extensions" and tried it again.

It took me a while to figure out that I'd have to relaunch Opera before I would enable the update check, but it worked. So basically all I needed to do was install that official extension by Opera, relaunch the program and update Widevine on the Components. Not bad for someone who just started using Opera for Windows today, huh?
