Is Bookmarks an absolute disaster? Has Chrome destroyed it?

I notice things aren't sorted alphbetcially automatically. I thought if sort from the top it will follow in subfolders. It appears that you need to sort every single folder individually, much like the madness in Firefox. How can designers be this clueless? Who would not want a default sorting system? Does Chromium just make it impossible to do this? Many of us have hundreds if not thousands of folders!

Have you tried any of the Chrome bookmark sorting extensions to see how they work in Opera?
This one sorts all the folders at once and you can even set it to sort automatically (by default).
This one is simpler, but can sort all folders at once too.

No because bookmarks are WAY too important to rely on some flaky, mindless extension creator. So many extensions don't even work - you can't even activate them. Most don't work for long as their flaky designers find something else to keep their minds occupied later. Extensions are something you use to fix a minor problem now. They're great in principle and I use several but they are simply not reliable. -

I happen to like that the newest ones at the top.
Particularly since most of my hearts are short term. I organize what I want organized and the rest are right there, a jumbled mess until I delete them.
Much easier to find them when I don't have to hunt for names I don't know.
