Have a speed dial option to show the sidebar on the Speed Dial page
-
When the sidebar is disabled, show an option to enable it only on the Speed Dial page
-
The Sidebar is a very useful feature to quickly navigate around the different features of the Opera Browser, but for some devices (especially smaller laptops with smaller screens) it can take valuable screen real-estate away from websites (YouTube in theater mode comes to mind). In older versions of the browser, the sidebar, even when disabled, would show up on the Speed Dial page and helped with quickly navigating to change a setting or check on a download or go back to a page you visited early in the day. I hope that this option would bridge the gap between this far superior new Opera and the old.

I really liked the old way to use sidebar (hide but still be able to use on speed dial). Could you please address this in the next update? I don't like having it pinned to all pages, but do prefer to have it on the speed dial page. Thanks for your consideration!

There is nothing more to add that having sidebar only on Speed Dial is very desirable feature. Eliminating it is even worse than eliminating extended-lazy-session-loading flag.

There is an existing suggestion: https://forums.opera.com/topic/31727/side-bar-for-only-speed-dial-option-opera-60

I agree. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who is annoyed by this. I find the side bar to be very annoying on other web pages, but really like having it on the speed dial.

I hope you as moderator are interested in making Opera better. So, why not?

I want that side bar appears on speed dial always, even off. it worked like this before the update and we preferred it.

Agreed. You need to search menu to access sidebar, bookmarks, settings or choose to lose a part of your screen by enabling always on sidebar.
Worst update ever.

The sidebar is not hidden when opening pages. Please return this function!

What he means is that it used to be visible on speed dial, but hidden while browsing pages, which made sense...
I open a new tab and I have the side panel if I want to go to my favorites or my history etc, or simply go browse a page. When I browse a page, I no longer need the side options...
So, I am up for the same... Keep the sidebar on the settings/new tab/speeddial etc, but hide it from actual pages
