As start opera maximized.??? always starts at half window i use manjaro linux

Edit the default opera shortcut (/usr/share/applications/opera.desktop) so that instead of this
Exec=opera %Uit lauches this
Exec=opera --start-maximized %Uand repeat for the 2 more lines starting with "Exec" under "[Desktop Action NewWindow]" and "[Desktop Action NewPrivateWindow]" if needed.

don't work at version 60.0.3255.70
but in opera.desktop have Exec=opera --start-maximized %U

No problem here with 60.0.3255.70, as with all the previous versions of opera.
If you close all opera windows and launch it from a terminal like soopera --start-maximizeddoes it start maximized?

I try that today and it works perfect - if you do it as root
With OpenSuse Leap 15.1 and Tumbleweed it's great.

What do yoy mean "as root"? It works for me if you run opera the way I say above, but as a user. You can also edit opera's shortcut so as to always launch with --start-maximized with simple user rights.
Unless you mean that you changed the /usr/share/applications/opera.desktop, where you do need root rights. -

OpenSuse Tumbleweed or Leap ist not manjaro linux; you need the root to change major setting on the system. If you can do that without root-rights, the you have a big problem with your system

See, that's where the difference lies:
I can do that as a user, no problem, because I edit my own profile.
Installed programs, or program folders, for this I need root rights.
Open the console, type Pw, then do the required action.
Mostly I work withzypper
