Hello. What i want to know is are there any rules which cannot let me to change add on's nature. For example i bought an extension which already has users. Extension shows weather. Can i make a new update where extension does something else? For example it blocks ads or something like that.

I think you can do that with Extension Source Viewer.

I mean i already have extension. I have source code, i have rights to update it and everything. I just want to know can i change my extension which has users and which shows weather to something else? Update it and fully change functionality.

If you had an extension installed, would you like to see it change its scope completely?

I think the best thing to do would be to end the development of the extension, if you don't want to keep it, and create a new one with new functions.

@leocg Thanks for response. Yes, I understand that user might not like changes but they can uninstall it anytime they want. I just wanted to know is it legal to do that?

Maybe you can check at developers guide? There must be one in the add-ons store page.

One thing is to add or remove something, another one is to completely change what the extension was designed for.

If I install an extension to check the weather, i wouldn't like to see it doing totally different. I guess I would stop believing on that extension, thinking that it may have been corrupted.

I could even stop trusting on that developer.
