Jon, the former CEO of Opera started Vivaldi. It will have a built-in mail client called "M3" based on web technologies. Since Jon, and many others, like Opera Mail (M2) so much, Opera Mail's features have been kept in mind while developing M3.
M3 is working, but it's still not ready from prime time. It will only have IMAP, no POP, for starters at least. There's no indication that it'll be released soon though.

Does TBIRD support MBOX
Thunderbird uses mbox files for storage of emails. There's one for each folder. The files don't have the mbs extension, but they're mbox files. However, Thunderbird doesn't support importing and exporting mbox by default. You need the import/export tools extension to do that.

and would it keep my email sorted or just throw everything into 1 mailbox.
If you import from Opera's mail/store/accountN folder, you're going to get a lump of emails. However, if you right-click on each view you want in Opera and choose export, you'll have a separate mbox file for each label/view that you should be able to import into a certain account in Thunderbird in a more-controlled manner. Just note that in Opera, with the exception of the per-account access points, exporting a view exports messages from all accounts. Right-clicking in the mail panel and setting "show messages from" to a certain account before exporting should allow you to do things just for a certain account.
Also note that in Opera, a message can be in more than one view/label. If you export both views/labels with the message, it'll be exported twice and therefore imported twice.
The best way to do things (as far as exporting for importing into Thunderbird) is to create a bunch of labels like:
account1-Inbox
account1-Sent
account1-Drafts
account1-Trash
account1-foo
account2-Inbox
etc., sort messages into those labels and export each label.
That's all for POP accounts though. For IMAP, you just set up your IMAP account in Thunderbird and you're done. You'll lose labels (tags in Thunderbird) though. You could use an IMAP keyword for each label to avoid that. But, due to a shortcoming in Thunderbird, it doesn't converter keywords set by another client to tags.
Sylpheed uses mbox for storage and exporting/importing. Claws Mail (uses Sylpheed as a backend) does too I think.
The main downside of Sylpheed is that it doesn't support IMAP IDLE. It also doesn't support composing in HTML (if that's your thing). Besides that though, it's really nice.
BTW: Thunderbird has a support mailing list that's helpful. https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-thunderbird.

@burnout426 I just did something interesting....
I had to log into my domains webmail and create a folder / or as Opera would call a tag
I then closed my browser and opened Opera Mail and dragged an email into this test "tag" / folder
closed O MAIL
I then opened up thunderbird and set up a dummy profile with my domain account set up as IMAP
when everything downloaded the folder named TEST showed up and that one email was in the folder...
So I guess thunderbird now sees that tag as a folder if you're using a different email client?

When you create a folder in your webmail, it's creating an IMAP folder. Opera shows IMAP folders for an account as views under the you@example.com access point in the mail panel for an IMAP account. Those are not labels in Opera. Opera doesn't have tags (but Opera's labels are like Thunderbird's tags).
Now, in Opera, if you create a label named "test" and go into its properties and set "test" its IMAP keyword and drag a message into that label, it'll set the "test" keyword on the message on the server where supporting clients will recognize it and create a tag/label. You can try if Thunderbird does that. However, it usually only works if you set the tag in Thunderbird where when Opera recognizes it, it automatically creates a label for it.

@burnout426 I dont think Fastmail likes Labels....
I opened Opera Mail
put my mouse over INBOX
right click
NEW LABEL
Named it TESTING
Right clicked on TESTING and went to properties
Went to the IMAP tab and in that box I named it TESTING
I then dragged an email into TESTING
opened up my fastmail webmail and there's nothing there called testing ? The email still shows its in the inbox

It's called a "tag" in Thunderbird. You just click the Tag button on the toolbar and pick one of the default tags to apply it to a message or selection of messages. There's a "new tag" option in there to create your own tag. For best IMAP compatibility use don't use any white-space or special characters in a tag name. Just use a-z and 0-9.

It should show that it's still in the Inbox. The message just now has the "TESTING" keyword attached to it. Fastmail should have no problem with keywords. It has been highly-tested with Opera too. I just forget if there's any UI in the webmail to make use of keywords. Fastmail doesn't have free accounts anymore, so I can't test.

In Opera, you'd go in the label's properties and set "hide these messages from other views". Then for each view you didn't want to see them in, click on the "settings for this view" button on the message list toolbar and make sure "show hidden" is unchecked.
In Thunderbird, right-click on the toolbar and goto "customize". Then, drag the "views" drop-down button to the toolbar. Then, for each folder you're viewing, you can set a certain view. In this case, you'd create a custom view with the criteria "tags isn't empty".

In Thunderbird, click the view drop-down on the toolbar, goto "customize" and then click "new". There you can create a new tag. You seem to be somewhere else messing with a filter and a header search or something.
Edit: Have to go for now.

I mean "is" instead of "isn't".

You mean, nested? If so, they don't have to be nested. If you mean one word, then yes, for best compat. But, I forgot to mention that you should be able to get away with using _ for a space to at least make the label names look better.
The idea is to have the label name and its keyword be exactly the same. But, you don't have to. You can name the label whatever you want and just make sure the keyword has no spaces etc. The downside to that is that if a client auto-creates a label/tag based on a new keyword it recognizes, it'll use the keyword for the label/tag name, which will be different than the desired name. As in, label/tag names are synced between clients, the keywords specifically are. The difference is more of an issue in Opera than Thunderbird.
