First: Opera is awesome and I love using 🙂
      I'm not a moaner

But... there's one thing I find super annoying...
Ctrl Tabbing and cycling through tabs - why cant we just have it like ALL other browsers. Opera has some clever preview - which IMHO is pants.

Hoping someone can tell me how to turn off?

(Annoying also is how by default the tabbing order is most recent used. I mean is there a single person on the planet that uses this? At least I can turn off and switch to the order of just tab to the next tab.)

The most-recently-used behavior of Ctrl+Tab in Opera is THE MAIN feature of Opera why I use it! It is far from annoying,.. it makes browsing very convenient. Who the hell wants to cycle 20 tabs to the left to get to the tab they were on before, all the while looking at the tabs? And even for such people, Opera gives the option to cycle tabs as nvmjustagirl pointed out.

Most-recently-used behavior is the same that Alt+Tab in windows also uses. So in fact, this is the right behavior to keep things standard and convenient. It's only because of stupid Firefox's and Chrome's popularity that their cycling-through behavior started becoming the norm for worse.

          Opera user since 2008

hmmm... u guys love opera too much 🙂
i would argue that if chrome and firefox have it - then surely they are following mass opinion and that u are wrong @mentallymental?

@nvmjustagirl that new feature is awesome. 🙂

one thing... i definitely think is a bug... u cant turn off show tab preview. whether u have ticked or not... the tab is still previewed. or is just me?

I agree completely! I also use Firefox jointly with Opera at the moment. I used to use the TabMixPlus extension's implementation of this but that's not available with the new Firefox and its native implementation of MRU is a bit deficient. Opera's is exactly how I want it. And the preview feature is superb. Even better than a title popup that's common elsewhere as I can see exactly which page to tab back to.

Having said that, I appreciate that many don't think as we do so these features should be optional.

I'm in full agreement with @mentallymental - see my reply to him. But we're all different. 🙂

I agree it should be customisable though.

I doubt Chrome and Firefox followed their users on this. More that the users just took what was on offer. Opera pioneered tab browsing in the 1990s. I believe they had MRU as default then or certainly from very early on. Firefox popularised tabbed browsing and they had no MRU. Chrome just continued on from Firefox. Internet Explorer introduced MRU as a non-default option. IIRC Edge doesn't have it.

The Opera tab preview check box setting there is different from the preview you get from Ctrl+Tab. It's to do with moving the mouse over a tab and getting a preview.

But the Ctrl+Tab preview should be configurable too. Send a feature request.
