Are they fresh installs?

In Opera appears an Extension: Video, also, SpeedDial would consume some resources compared to the Chrome Start page, appart of that it seems that you have an Extensions tab opened too.

At the other hand,
and If appears in Chrome too, you should show up the full memory footprint to look closer the memory consume.

But Browser and GPU process are common.
I can't find Video handler extension in Extensions.

I have installed Opera developer 51.0.
But your install's one is also greater than Chrome.

Opera has an integrated Speed Dial, an integrated Sidebar, VPN and adblocker, where Chrome is just a blank (useless) browser, I don' see what's the point here, it's vs.

Don't know if they use the same code for the GPU's.

I disabled all extensions in Opera 49 (lazy loading of tabs) and tested it against Chrome, the new Firefox, Dragon, Icedragon, Ghost, Brave and Epic and it uses at least a gig more memory. I don't know what the problem with it is these days but after it being my main browser for some years now I think I am going to have to ditch it.
