I tried to download Opera Max on my Cubot s550 pro on play store and it says ' not compatible with your device' , also there's no install button. why is that

What is your Android version? Try checking if Max supports it.

Me too I have the similar problem. I am using Sony Xperia Z5 Dual E6683. Nougat 7.1.1 why?
