xubuntu 14.04, I tried the instructions here both ways here with no luck.

      http://www.opera.com/docs/linux/plugins/install/#flash

Any ideas as to how to get flash going?

      Thanks,

       John

I have found that to view all video that are not working with flashplayer you may also need to install the Chromium pepperflashplayer nonfree plugin. I'm using Linux Mint KDE 17.1. Just a suggestion. It works fort me.

I installed it through Synaptic Package Manager. Good luck. =-)

That documentation is very outdated (as it stands on the top of the page) and you should not read it.

            Install this package:

            sudo apt-get install pepperflashplugin-nonfree

            Then restart Opera.

No joy either installing pepperflashplugin-nonfree or chromium. Still no Flash in Opera 32 running on Xubuntu 14.04.

The is the page the Flash update in Opera redirects too. Perhaps someone might update it or simply delete it if it is not applicable any more.

I'm not very familiar with Xubuntu, having only used it in a VM. However, try closing Opera first. I imagine you'll probably want to uninstall the pepperflashplugin-nonfree first.

                  So...

                  sudo apt-get purge pepperflashplugin-nonfree
                  sudo apt-get install pepperflashplugin-nonfree

Reload Opera and see if that helps.

@stmor the package doesn't actually install Chrome; it downloads Chrome, takes the Flash plugin from there (it's in the Chrome package), then installs it.

Alternatively, you can also use the adobe-flashplugin package from the Ubuntu Partner repository (you have to enable this repo first), a package created by Adobe themselves. In newer versions of Ubuntu this package includes the 'Pepper' plugin that Opera needs.
