Opera linux won't open maximized

I don't see a setting in Opera 43.0.2442.991 to have it open maximized. Is there a method in ubuntu mate 16.04.2 to do this?

Desktop, not distro. There's Mate (which is actually the old version of Gnome), Gnome, KDE, LXDE, XFCE, Enlightenment, and the list goes on - and I could run any of those desktops on my distro (Mageia). Ubuntu is slightly different - they change the name slightly for different desktops (Lubuntu = Ubuntu with LXDE, Kububtu = Ubuntu with KDE, etc.).
In some desktops, whatever window the mouse is over automatically has focus, others are like Windows where you click a window to focus it. And a few don't support windows - every program is allotted a section of the screen and can't be moved around. Since the title bars and window frames (if applicable) are all different, Opera can't override the system title bar. But of course Chrome and Firefox are the same.
But if you want some idea ...
I note that one of the search results is an article claiming to list the 27(!) best desktop environments for Linux. If someone went to the trouble to pick 27 and call them "best", that seems to indicate there must be at least that many which are not "best", so there might even be 100 desktops, maybe even more.

I use the app maximus (autoload "maximus --no-maximize"). Debian 8.7 Mate 1.8.1

I knew about Desktops and Linux versions, also I've tested some of them, but didn't realize about it's differences.
I've tested Mint in Cinnamon and KDE, but I thought they are distros too, not Desktops in the same distro, (correct?) now I understand the difference.Neither didn't knew about different behaviors in the desktops.

Although I do not use nor do I know much Linux, one of the distros I like is PinguyOS.

Was there a fix to this? I just installed Opera 44.0.2510.857 under Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS, and no matter what I try Opera always opens mid-screen. I didn't find anywhere in the preferences (in the browser or the config file) to make a change. Thanks!

I have the same issue with Opera 44.0.2510.857 under Ubuntu 16.10. Opera always opens mid screen and I can't seem to change that.
