Change the search provider in the "search field"

In Opera I can easily change the search provider, which I find great.
But how do I change the search in the search field from "Google" to "duckduckgo"?

The search field in the start page can't be changed, sorry.

If I type words into the address bar it seems to come up with suggestions for searches to Google. If these are coming from Google then I would consider that a breach of privacy, as I have not sent my searches to them or agreed for them to be sent there. I would like to change that behaviour.

Address bar? If you don't want suggestions then turn them off. Go to Settings, type "prediction" in the search box, then clear the checkbox for "Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar".
