Fonts changed again and DirectWrite can't be disabled?

Just after upgrading to Opera 39 I started experiencing the same issue I had two years ago. Here's the thread:

Old versions, but the scenario hasn't changed. Opera 24 looking like Opera 38, and Opera 25 looking like Opera 39.

Exactly the same problem, same sites, same fonts, but this time the DirectWrite option is not there among the advanced flags (opera://flags)...

It seems it's an issue with Chrome as well. Check out this comment:

Probably because - GDI it's called? - they don't support it any more I heard (see here*. I suspect there's no third way left, thus no option.

Check your zoom. What is it set at? What are your font settings? Try to change them.__ I just found out GDI font rendering has been removed from Chromium. It only renders with DirectWrite now. __Bad news for all browsers that are Chromium based.

Yeah, code for GDI cals is removed from chromium. But text rendered through DirectDraw can be modified by Opera devs probably.

There are few modes of aliasing with DirectDraw which can be set.

Meanwhile I reverted to previous version and renamed opera_autoupdate.exe.

FYI, certain other browsers have kept it in/put it back. Example: Cent. And, I think, Slimjet.
