I experience the same problem at work.
I am behind a proxy server, everything works fine but the update does not.
It is really sad, as I am the only one left at my office promoting Opera, if this small issue was fixed I would go on with an additional round to convince my co-workers to use Opera

I am currently on Opera 23.0.1522.75
