It is "no beforeunload", here:

Prevents viciously annoying dialogs that asks for confirmation before leaving the page.
I'd like to have a button which disconnects opera from the network. Firefox had it in the past, and still there is an extension which does that. Chrome has extension which does a workaround and sets proxy to non-existing IP and port combination.

Is there anything like that for Opera ? Could I install Chrome extension is some way ? Some web sites keep loading their sh*t forever, usually ads, making browser less responsive. I'd simply like to cut the browser off from network when important part of the page is loaded.
In order to get perfect video playback on Slackware I had to do 3 things:
Install PepperFlash
Install extra ffmpeg codecs
Set and export LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable to directory where ffmpeg.so is located. That should be a directory where Opera is installed. I have a script which does that and runs opera. To check if ffmpeg is found you might run:
ldd /usr/bin/opera | grep -i ffmpeg
I think there should be a man page for *nix Opera, like there is one for lynx and w3m. These issues should be described there. People should read those man pages, at least briefly. Those who can't be bothered to read man pages at all on UNIX-like operating systems should be ignored and nobody should ever reply to their posts.
It might be that I misunderstood, but have you set [browser]->[personal news] to "never" ?
Sgunhouse, you might want to take a look at Slackbuild for Opera ffmpeg codecs. There is no 'native' package for Slackware. Slackbuild, in this case, provides a script which downloads package for other distro (maybe Debian) and repackages it for Slackware. I am sure that you could modify the script to build a package for Mageia. Slackbuild can be found if you visit Slackbuilds.org, make sure to pick latest version and type 'opera' in the search input field.
Opera itself is provided as another Slackbuild, but don't let it bother you, there are no compatibility issues for codecs. I have, for example, downloaded RPM package directly from the site, converted it with rpm2tgz and installed as Slackware package. After that I downloaded and run Slackbuild for codecs. Everything worked without problem.

I am running Opera on Slackware 14.2. 64 bit. I had various problems with video playback which I solved by installing additional ffmpeg codecs and setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH to where ffmpeg.so is. That is a directory where Opera is installed. It took me a while to figure it out. Currently I am starting Opera from the script which sets and exports LD_LIBRARY_PATH. I know there are other ways, but this quick and, at the moment, everything works like in a perfect world.
I wonder how is it on other *NIX platforms ? Is there an install script which does something about it, or something else, or everyone has to figure it out for himself ? Perhaps a man page might help. For example I didn't know about additional ffmpeg codecs. As a result video playback worked, but it was not nearly as smooth and I had problems skipping forward and backward during playback. I must admit that my initial reaction was like "video is screwed", but I decided to dig deeper. I have seen many messages on this forum about it.
I have another question. Is there a way to tell Opera to open new instance in another window ? For example I have window with video maximized and need another one. When I launch new instance a new tab is open. I can drag it to desktop and create new window, but I have to leave maximized mode before it.

When I try playing movies from the web, I am getting error prompting me to update
Flash Player. opera:plugins lists PepperFlash plugin installed by Google Chrome (v21). The same
movie works in Chrome.
I seem to be unable to play any movie. I have also tried to run opera with LD_LIBRARY_PATH including directory where Opera is installed plus directory where PepperFlash is. It worked in Opera 36, but no luck with 37 and 38.
I never said that videos are using Flash, although I believe they are. The embedded player is, probably, coded in Flash. Try any openload.co movie, if you would.
I am running Opera 35 on Vector Linux 7.1 (Slackware based) with PepperFlash. HD movies are playing fine, fast, sharp image, intensive colors. The problem starts when I try to skip forward instead of watching from the beginning. It takes forever for player to get to the point where I want to start watching. It happems on most of the movies, and majority of them are in MP4 format. I have Google Chrome on the same system and it has no problems.
Is there something that I can do about it ? Is there anyone else with the same problem ?
