I went to settings > websites and it was selected on "Detect and run important plug-in content" and tried the other option you suggested, but that didn't work either. I found a forum though on Adobe that someone else was having the same problem as I was that started at the same time mine did also, and someone suggested un-installing the current version of adobe flash player and downloading an older version, and that worked for me https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2208589 . Apparently there is some sort of bug that Adobe needs to fix according to the staff member who wrote on the forum, thank you both though for your help 🙂
