I've noticed that on a few sites the font rendering is better and it's noticeable when you're the right distance from the screen. YouTube for instance looks the same in Chrome as it does in Opera.

RE: Spell checker: *major* annoyance...Opera for Windows
I can't edit my previous post now, but I forgot to add to that last sentence that the Opera spell checker should also flag a misspelling after a punctuation character has been added.

No, not always.
If you are typing a list of items or poetry, you don't add punctuation at the end of each line. Titles don't have punctuation at the end.
To solve ALL of the spell checking problems, the Opera spell checker could flag the misspelling after a 0.3 second delay of no keyboard activity or when at least once space has been added after the misspelt word. Simple.

RE: Flash & Vimeo problemOpera for Windows
Flash, YouTube etc have become buggy in the recent Opera release and the videos are slower. What's going on?!

I disabled DirectWrite and it made no different at all; I've since re-enabled it.

RE: Spell checker: *major* annoyance...Opera for Windows
It's easy to reproduce this bug in 3 ways...
Method A
- Misspell a word
- Press [space bar] ONCE only
Method B
- Misspell a word
- Press [Enter] key ONCE only
Method C
- Misspell a word
- Don't type anything after it

Can you see how easily a misspelling could be posted online now? This won't look good when something needs to look "professional"!! -
What's happened to the new font rendering?Opera for Windows
When Opera updated itself about a week ago, I was impressed by the new smooth and sharp fonts.
Today the fonts don't look as sharp and smooth, but look identical to Google Chrome's rendering i.e. not as good. What's happened?
I see this problem on sites like Facebook, Wikipedia etc, with standard sized fonts used on webpages with plenty to read.
Has Opera "turned off" the newer font rendering by itself?

RE: Opera 24 and 25 completely freezes my pcOpera for Windows
New versions of apps use more hardware resources, which causes problems when there are "hidden" hardware faults that get uncovered. Possibly that or there's Malware running?
Although old, this guide may prove helpful: http://home.comcast.net/~SupportCD/DiagnoseXP.html

Spell checker: *major* annoyance...Opera for Windows
Hi. First things first, I love the Opera browser and I'm grateful for the hard work that goes into developing it.
:::Problem:::
The built in spell checker can easily skip a misspelling. How? Let me explain...A misspelt word does NOT get marked as such if you ONLY put a single space after it (obviously by pressing the space bar once). This can easily happen e.g. when you're in a hurry.
Is this a bug?
