Search bar only accepts the first two letters that are typed in. I have been waiting for a fix to this for maybe 3 to 6 updates now. Anyone else have this or a fix please?

Not to the thread I remember but this one is very close -
https://forums.opera.com/topic/55629/opera-slow-to-load/18
Strange thing is that I can open my Bookmarks fast enough, it's only the speed dial that takes so long.

This started happening over a month ago. At the time we were told, on these forums, that it would be fixed in a patch. Since then I have waited patiently for said patch. In the interim I have had a number of patches yet there is still the same delay of between 10 and 15 seconds. I would like to know just how many more patches before this known regression is fixed? I hope it gets fixed soon.

Ooops my bad. I went to paste something similar to what I thought I was pasting. I screwed up. Please ignore this thread.

Opera version 85.0.4341.60.
I have Settings/Advanced/User Interface/Enable search box in the address bar set to off.
Now when I right-click in the address bar amongst other things I get the option to either Paste or Paste and Search. Where has Paste and Go gone? Even if I choose Paste and paste an exact address in the address bar and press return, it still does a search. Is this a bug, a virus, an oversight or are the people at Opera trying to force me to do a search everytime I want to go to an exact site that I know the address of.
Is there a way to turn this "feature" off and get Paste and Go back? I use it a lot.

@leocg I have found a workaround that works. Instead of using -
https://forums.beamdog.com/
I can use -
https://forums.beamdog.com/discussions
to access the site. Weird but it works.

@leocg said in How do I stop Opera changing an address:
Do a test, enable opera://flags/#reduce-user-agent and see if the redirection still happens.
Still happens. I also removed the cookies relating to both of those sites - no change.
Thanks for trying.

This is driving me nuts. From this afternoon Opera has started to redirect me from where I want to go to a different but a related site. The site I want to go to is -
https://forums.beamdog.com/
It pops up for less than a second in the address bar and then it changes it to -
https://www.beamdog.com/
I have checked that it is just Opera doing this by going to the site I want using Firefox to so without any problems.
So what I want know is what setting can I change to stop Opera from doing this.
Thanks.

@starlight Agreed. Out of the blue it told me my extensions needed extra permissions. I fortunately only have 4 and that includes Operas own add-blocker. Went through them all and none of them had accessible permissions to alter. Now I have a red dot against extensions in the side bar. Even after checking for updates, downloading and installing the update (which doesn't seem to have changed the version number), the red dot remains.

@lizziedart Same here. I don't know if it makes any difference but I am on the win 64 build.
@wmtyrance Which is what I was complaining about. Also, if it is an attempt to make me use the bookmark bar, it failed. I've literally got hundreds of bookmarks after being with opera this long and they won't all fit (hint - sarcasm).
I have been loyal to Opera since before version 12 and I have to say that this beyond annoying, it is totally unnecessary. So it was done because a vocal minority asked for it? Fine but give us a choice to revert to the proper way of doing things in the settings and not just impose this on us.
@leocg Thanks for that. I didn't notice the tiny 'X' before. Now fixed. Thank you for the very fast reply.
With the latest version of Opera they have introduced a new feature - a box with items I have looked at on Amazon. Since any item I am thinking about buying goes in my bookmarks why would I want this spyware rubbish on my desktop. I have gone through my settings and can't find a way to get rid of it. Please help.
Argggh! How do I edit this so it says Solved in the title? I can't even find a way to edit a post that I made on here.
Thanks
Thanks for the reply. I had a small update yesterday that seems to have fixed the problem though.
Just what the title says. I use Opera and I have an extra Opera desktop launch icon. It only started happening in the past couple of days and it is really annoying to have to keep deleting the extra icon.
Anybody any ideas how to stop this please?
