I am all for free software, but I would like to know how Opera makes its money?
I noticed it make $350million. I am pretty sure I did n't pay for anything. Plus they have add-blocking etc... so who is paying them and for what?

@blackbird71 said in VPN - Google - Prove I am not robot when doing search:
incoming IPs and discover that the one from Opera's VPN causes many hits - and as a result, will probably assume it's a bot and toss the picture pop-up back at you to prove otherwise.
I agree, I sense that is exactly, what is happening. It did n't use to happen in the past (many years ago), so I don't know if they can make it work again.
When I open Opera, I see my speed dials, but above that is a Google search box. So Opera must have a tie up with Google, so why not fix the VPN bit?
I can't use VPN with gmail etc... if I do use VPN, it makes me just do the picture pop-up and sometime send a text to my phone.
Yes, I can switch to DuckDuckGo, but their search results does n't always yield the results I want.....
Hi,
I use Opera VPN. If I do a Google search sometimes it comes up with a pop-up to prove I am not a robot and I have do all the picture matching, with what is a fire hydrant or not etc... I have to do this, just to get search results....
About this page
Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. This page checks to see if it's really you sending the requests, and not a robot. Why did this happen?

Is this a bug? It has been happening for year or two. Just too lazy to ask for help on the forum.
Otherwise, I have to turn off VPN, but I loose privacy....
Is there button to clear cache. Instead of going into the menus etc... which is long winded. So the advantage, I do it more frequently.
"You could also try exploring Win key + R, type %appdata% -> Local and find Opera related files. File system objects are usually placed there. "
That looks useful. Do you know which directory exactly?
"Did you have the site open in another tab? "
No.
I am aware, Opera can pre-load web sites....
"Did you have all the checkboxes (except perhaps passwords and autofill) checked?"
Yes, I did have all checkboxes ticked. It deleted all of them, except for this one web site. I have to log on to this web site.
I did a clear cache and all other files (from beginning of time).
Whilst most people assume Opera has been done its, I went back in to check and selected 'all cookies and site data'. It has cleared everything, except for an item from on web site. It was n't a 'cookie' but a 'file system' object. I am not sure of the difference between the two. I had to manually delete this item, from Opera.
Running Windows 10 Pro, running latest edition of Opera.
Why did n't it clear everything?
H.264 support No ✘
I have the same issue too.
I am using Opera on Windows XP, Opera 36.0.2130.80.
Twitter has n't been working me for a long time.
VLC media player is listed as on the plug-in. Tried turning it on and off....
I managed to re-install Flash. I am on 26.0.0.131
I still have two issues:
Some cookies seem indestructible. There is a cookie for AirBnb (6 Feb 2017), which I last visited in 2016 and web.whatsapp.com (last modified Sunday 26 September). I have visited these sites, but a long time ago.
Even when I delete the 'individual cookie', it will delete, but when I got back to see which cookies I have it is still there. I did have browsersync.io installed (but I was playing with some web development tools, but there is no un-install, so must have removed it... but it was some time back).
(I don't have Turbo enabled).
On another thread it says to try opera:gpu

I have been using Opera on Windows XP for a long time. Currently on latest version 36.0.2130.80
I have tried to update my Flash player, however, it says installation has failed. Basically, the last two updates from Adobe Flash don't work. That is version 26.0.0.131 and the one before that (I think version 26.0.0.126).
I un-installed Flash. But I still cant install Flash again.
Something is broken. I have been able to update Flash in the past. Kind of fustrating not being able to watch videos.
Mobile phones don't have Flash, but they support HTML5, so should HTML 5 videos be working? How do I get it to work?
