The bar is stealing me valuable display space, is there such a key combination?

Opera opens sync page alongside start page when I'm not logged in.
That's annoying.
I won't be logged in all the time since I haven't something to sync all the time.
But I want sync to be enabled to sync when I want to sync.

Speed dial continuously tries to make thumbnails for every page where it cannot get one (whyever).
Means it visits every website with empty icon, after every retart, without asking me.
I can see this in the cookies manager: there are always new cookies from these sites, even though I havent visited them.
I'm pretty sure if I were on my own computer now, I could see the connections with etherape or wireshark.
In my opinion, this is a privacy and traffic issue.
