The splash screen is a nuisance. The startup sound is straight out unprofessional and depending on one's system may be disturbingly loud. Every time I use Opera now (Opera One) it begins by pissing me off mightily, and annoying coworkers if I'm in an office. This is a peculiar decision by Opera and unacceptable. They have downgraded a browser that actually promotes productivity and redefined it as a time-wasting entertainment platform not intended for any professional environment. And two days ago, after decades of researching in libraries on two continents, I experienced my first ever admonishing "SHHH!" from a librarian. WTF Opera?

RE: More ads despite opting out?Opera for computers
Recently an icon started sitting in the sidebar with no explanation, no apparent function, no tooltip on hover, and no animation on hover like the other icons. Right-click offers nothing. I have performed the usual troubleshooting. I run a clean and lean system used only for work - no gaming, I have limited trusted extensions, and nothing new (other than updates) for a year. This icon occasionally disappears only to shortly reappear and persist. It is the red circle with a red dot at the two o'clock position in this grab, positioned between the speed dial and bookmark icons. It is not - of course - the Opera logo at the top. Any help appreciated.
