Since your plan is to switch to another browser, then they usually have an option to import bookmarks from another one used. You may not need to find the bookmarks location.

Off topic, but does anyone know how to change email preferences on this forum? I have different topics marked as "starred," but I am not getting notifications of further replies.

Bookmarks are stored in the profile in a file named "Bookmarks", with no extension name.
You need to install an extension to export bookmarks, since Opera will not do that itself. I am using V7 Bookmarks, which is a pretty good extension.
