More puzzling still - after reading the posts above, I tried starting Opera 12 again, did not re-install, just used the installation 30 had (fortunately) left behind. Amazingly it all works just like it used to. AFTER it was working properly I ran Spybot and found 4 instances of Ilivid, which Avast had failed to get...

Have been forced to upgrade(?) from Opera 12 to Opera 30 (30.0.1835.88 in fact) as I started getting lots of 1066 errors, and 12 was using a huge amount of processor to do not very much! Now 30 seems very slow, and drops web pages out with seemingly random errors - last was "out of memory".

Are there any easy fixes? Or can I coax 12 back into life? Just noticed a thread about viruses, but have run boot check with latest AVG and found nothing?

I'm running windows XP Professional, SP3 on a Pentium R4 processor at 2.8Ghz with 750Mb RAM - Don't laugh too much, its served me well, and does all I want (not into video editing or games).
