I got it working, I think the problem was that earlier I reinstalled opera instead of uninstalling it completely and doing the setup again. Sync still breaks it though unfortunately : - (

After I synced everything opera crashed and when i tried to open it again it would open to a blank window for half a second then close, it did this again about 5 times then stops. I've tried restarting my computer and reinstalling Opera but both of those didn't work, although this:

did seem to describe my issue at the bottom I don't know what it means when it says "delete the sync folder in Opera's profile folder while Opera is closed" and I couldn't find the preferences folder either so I just tried deleting the whole opera folder and reinstalling but that didn't work. Also probably not relevant but this is after resetting the computer to delete all installed programs and reset settings.
