Mint-Y Dark theme: Readability issues (Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.1)Opera for Linux
Hey, guys! Is there any way to change the font color in the "downloads" panel? Perhaps a CSS hack or something?
It's barely readable when using the Mint-Y Dark theme:

RE: Just about all videos won't play!Opera for Linux
@cblinux said in Just about all videos won't play!:
I agree it is a pain, and happens everytime there is a new release. What's the big deal for them to wait an extra week or so before releasing the update so that it won't be a broken package. I like my Opera browser for certain functions, but I am getting used to Brave and it seems to be working fine right now.
And to the Opera developers...... quit releasing these broken updates, nobody is going to use a broken browser.
I wholeheartedly second this.

RE: Opening Inspector freezes CinnamonOpera for Linux
Quick update:
- Repro rate: ~5/10
- Deleting the config folder and re-configuring Opera from scratch does not resolve the issue
- Workaround: press CTRL+W to un-freeze Cinnamon (closing the Inspector window that triggered the issue)

Opening Inspector freezes CinnamonOpera for Linux
Hey guys! This might just be me, but since earlier today (I think there was an update today), when I press Ctrl+Shift+I to open the Inspector, Cinnamon freezes.
Everything keeps working (e.g. I can still hear the Netflix show I'm watching), I can still move the mouse cursor but the whole desktop UI is completely frozen. Alt+F2 and r doesn't work.
To resolve, I have to force-shut down the computer by holding down the power button.
Version: 57.0.3098.76
System: Linux Mint 19 (x86_64; X-Cinnamon)

RE: Whatsapp plugin won´t close.Opera for Linux
Same problem here. Affects both WhatsApp and Messenger. Devs: can you guys issue a fix please?
Until then, a workaround is pressing Ctrl+Shift+M to close the app window.

RE: Problem with flash playerOpera for Linux
Hey guys, thanks for this! I've been wondering what might be the culprit, especially because, as you said, YouTube hasn't used Flash in years, and also because some videos on YouTube keep working in HD, and only some give me the "Missing options?" message.
I had heard of libffmpeg.so before, but I didn't realize that it was responsible for the issues. @avl, thanks for your suggestion! I checked and the version of chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra currently installed on my system is indeed 64. I will uninstall it and then manually install the .deb.
If this happens again, how would I go about finding the correct version of this package to install? I went to launchpad.net and looked for "chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra", and it gives me 26,900 search results.

RE: Problem with flash playerOpera for Linux
I have the exact same issue on Linux Mint 18.3, Opera 50.0.2762.67. Things were fine until a few days ago, then videos stopped working properly.
I had the following packages installed, but re-installed them in an attempt to solve the problem which did not help:
- adobe-flashplugin
- ubuntu-restricted-extras
- ubuntu-restricted-addons
Firefox and Chrome are not affected.

RE: Opera crashes Gnome ShellOpera for Linux
Hey everybody, I might have a solution.
In Opera, go to opera://gpu (or chrome://gpu). You will likely see that video encode and decode are done by software, not hardware accelerated. Probably some other things as well.
Go to opera://flags (or chrome://flags), and enable the option, "Override software rendering list". Close and re-open Opera. You will see that videos are now hardware-accelerated.
More info: http://www.webupd8.org/2014/01/enable-hardware-acceleration-in-chrome.html
While you're at it, you could also go ahead and enable hardware acceleration in Firefox. Google "Ubuntu Firefox enable hardware acceleration", it's one of the first results.
I don't know for sure whether this really fixes our problem. It did solve stuttering issues for me, which I continued to experience on my desktop PC on 17.10 after uninstalling Opera, and then again after switching to Mint 18.3. After my switch to Mint, I also had stuttering in ZSNES, which went away after I did the following:
- Open NVidia settings
- In "OpenGL Settings", disable "Allow Flipping" and move "Image Settings" slider to the right until it says "Performance".
- You could also try disabling VSync (also in OpenGL Settings). If you get no screen tearing afterwards, leave it off.
- In "PowerMizer", set "Preferred Mode" to "Prefer Maximum Performance".
The "PowerMizer" setting is automatically reset after reboot. To make it permanent, open the "Startup Applications" app and add the following as a new startup application:
nvidia-settings -a '[gpu:0]/GPUPowerMizerMode=1'
Name and describe as you see fit. More info: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/832288/how-to-automatically-set-powermizer-to-prefer-maximum-performace-with-340-and-346-drivers/?offset=3
Since I'm no longer on 17.10 on my desktop and I still use my laptop for daily work, I can't tell for sure whether any of the above fixes our problem. It would be awesome if one of you guys could report back.

RE: Opera crashes Gnome ShellOpera for Linux
@jimunderscorep Hey Jim, sorry for the late reply!
The behaviour that illioren described above is very similar to mine, except I don't think I experienced lagging before the whole system UI froze. Unfortunately, I couldn't tell you whether disabling hardware acceleration would have made a difference, because I ended up uninstalling Opera on my desktop PC.
Soon after, my PC started exhibiting the desktop stuttering that illioren described (to be clear, this was after uninstalling Opera). I completely stopped using my desktop PC at that point. I've been working from my laptop over the past weeks, which still runs on Ubuntu 17.04. Opera continues to run perfectly here.
When I get around to it, I will uninstall Ubuntu 17.10 on my desktop PC and go back to 17.04.
In the meantime, it looks like this is an issue only on Ubuntu 17.10.

RE: [Solved]Google sending old version of its page to OperaOpera for Windows
Hey guys, good to see I'm not alone...
Based in Montreal, Canada. Using the latest Opera (45.0.2552.881) on 64-bit Ubuntu GNOME.
Switching user agent (e.g. to Firefox on Ubuntu) solves the problem.

Same problem here. Do we have a bug report? I've never opened one for Opera before, but I could look into it.
