OK. I went to the plug-ins and disabled Flashplayer. Seems to be the source of the problem. Thanks!

Thanks for your suggestion. However, I checked and Opera reports there are no extensions installed.

Some (not all) web pages freezeOpera for Windows
Dear All,
I was surprised that no-one else has the problem as it happens to me all the time, so maybe it is something to do with my configuration, but if I try to load certain web pages, they will either not load at all, or semi load and then freeze. You have to kill the tab. Consistant culprits are facebook and linkedin, but my bank web site also does the same thing. However, I can browse quite happily on other sites like youtube or ebay; in fact most sites are fine. I can't work out why certain web sites behave in this way. Chrome will load them all quite happily. Any ideas?
