Yes, both ways:
-Restart with "desktop effects" disabled and, then, enable them.
-Restart with "desktop effects" enabled.

OK, I know this one has been asked a zillion times, but I'm unable to find the exact answer. Sorry about that.
First of all: Opera 12.16 for Linux / Debian stable / KDE 4.8.4 / Video card: nVidia EN8400GS, using closed drivers version 304.117.
I've been using Opera without issues for the last months, since last Debian upgrade. But yesterday I was changing my desktop appearance and, suddenly, Opera menus got screwed. Context and standard menus. See screen captures:

This is related to KDE/Kwin "compositing": Opera menus do work fine if I disable "desktop effects" (by default, ALT+SHIFT+F12 in KDE 4).
Any hint to get desktop effects and Opera menus back?
