Thanks @Hellsfire
They've sorted it:
opera://settings/?search=reduce+animations
New option in 101.0.4843.33
Many thanks dev team, this makes Opera much more usable.
Please do ensure any fancy stuff comes with an off-switch for techies (like you, and me!) who generally just want usability and speed!
But thanks, it's a class browser, and much less memory-hungry than Chrome.

RE: [Suggestion]Switch off transition effect when switching workspacesTab Islands, Tabs and Workspaces
Yes the recent upgrade to Opera One has brought this in by default, and it's actually really quite annoying, and seemingly impossible to disable.
As a general rule, all bells and whistles need to be "disableable". Users who spend their whole day flicking between tabs and workspaces usually for work purposes simply don't need extra gumf and just want as clean a product as possible. All these nice-to-haves are a great way to attract more users and a larger userbase can only be a good thing, but please always offer the option to get rid of any and all distractions and strip right back to a low-memory, low-CPU product that just does the job of browsing, and nothing else.

Unchecking sync settings should prevent workspaces from being syncedSuggestions and feature requests
Sync is great, e.g. for the many millions of us who have to use different devices for work and personal, but what would also be great is to be able to have some workspaces sync'd and not others. Because many of us do not want our personal projects showing up on our work PC! But some workspaces are fine on both, and need to be sync'd.
Right now, even when I've unchecked "sync settings", when I uncheck a workspace on one device it disappears from my other device (awesomely quickly!).
Ideally, I'd like to be able to choose what gets sync'd onto which device, and which workspaces are displayed, from a master profile, and run different profiles on different devices.
That would be extremely useful for me, and hopefully many others...?
Thanks,
Jon
