I use Vivaldi quite a bit next to Opera and Firefox on a Linux desktop. It's hard to really say which I prefer. Vivaldi is definitely more customization than Opera. Vivaldi supports Chrome extensions the same as Opera and over all I find no drawbacks. It supports YouTube videos a lot better than Opera. I'm a music nut and run across many music videos Opera complains about. Just wont play em. Vivaldi and Firefox does though. Not sure why really. I haven't tried Vivaldi's email feature. I'm so use to Thunderbird I don't really need it. Overall, if Opera just stopped working, I wouldn't really miss it that much.

One pet peeve I have with Opera besides refusing to play some Youtube videos, is the page zoom feature. I cannot find a way to add it to the address bar. I have to open a menu to do the zoom then close the menu. If i were able to put it in the address bar like I'm able to with Vivaldi and Firefox, it would be more convenient. Anyway, I find Vivaldi a sold browser, especially if you spend some time to tweak it to your liking. All three browsers mention are very secure and easy to clear data cookies history etc, especially with the help of extensions to automate it all for you. I believe Vivaldi is only closed source with its UI leaving most of what's under the hood open source. Kind of a cross breed.

I was just curious enough to try it. I remember long ago when I installed Arch Linux. It was a new distro and not very popular at all back then, and had a small following. Anyway, most good things start out small.

     I cant blame Opera. All computer oriented stuffs has gotten complicated, especially for a user who doesn't wanna know about computers. I'm pretty techy and constantly fixed Windows for mom and dad. My linux machine ran an outdated version of linux for so many years. It just worked. I recently purchased a new computer with updated everything. Getting Linux to run bug free on it was like freaking mind boggling. Fix something simple, then 3 other things break kinna thing. I'm back up to snuff after over 10 years of not staying up to date, but the learning curve was frustrating to say the least. 

Kinna like when my 18 yr old nephew discovered he needed someone to teach him cursive so he could sign his name on stuff... I was like ... you did graduate highschool right? LOL ... Sometimes we just are like... What the ...blah!!!! hehe

Firefox beats opera in the long run, but it takes some tweaking. Firefox is still open source making it more tweakable just my two cents... Not that I don't like Opera. It's cool browser. Just need a backup to do stuffs Opera freaks out about.

Hi, I'm new all over again. Back in 1990's and 2000 i loved Linux and opera and the blogs feature Opera had. It was so relaxing blogging and making themes for the Opera browser. Work got demanding and parents needed me. Returning to linux in 2025 and then Opera, learning my old account is so long gone, is not a surprise really but just, like wow! I use to be so good with linux. I still am, but all the new stuff and changes were kinna over whelming. I had to reinstall like 5 times due to fiddling so much the OS just freaked. I'm back on track.. I miss the old Opera days though! I'm just reminded of a song... Times they are a changing! Youtube videos.. Some wont play with Opera but play fine with firefox. Hmmm. No biggy. I still prefer Opera over Firefox, until firefox does what Opera can't.
