@myswtest It's not really a replacement for my old browser if it doesn't do everything it does.
But thank you all. I simply installed
6 extra/opera-ffmpeg-codecs 117.0.5938.132-1 (1.7 MiB 5.6 MiB) (Installed)
and it seems to work now.

Update stream:Stable
System:Arch Linux (x86_64; Unknown)
Chromium version:117.0.5938.132
Steps:
Go to Facebook.com, login
Find a post with a video.
Click the triangle play button.
Expected behavior:
Plays the video.
What actually happens:
Nothing.
Frame changes to black, but nothing plays.
I would like to use Opera as my main browser but I can't if it won't play videos.
Does anyone know if this problem is being worked on?
I desperately wish there was an option to cycle through the tabs with the scroll wheel. (probably with the mouse over Vertical Tabs)
Does not work. Does nothing.
Interesting that this app had zero ratings, then I added a single rating of 1 star and it then displays an average rating of "4.0 / 5"
Obviously these ratings are completely bogus and can't be trusted.
I like the dark theme and being able to adjust it.
Flaw: when in dark mode the links should not be dark blue on dark. It's hard to see.
@bbildman I agree. Spent years curating my bookmarks. Some took a LOT of searching which I see no reason to repeat.
Search is a poor substitute for bookmarks. For one, I will either get too many matches, which I then have to scroll through anyway, or too few (i.e. none) because I can't remember some substring of the URL or the title. Opera does NOT do a web page content search. So why should I be forced to remember that?
I am of the belief that the computer should do the work to lessen the burden of the human, not the other way around.
@leocg Yeah I guess Touch is not for me. But it's a worrisome trend. If removing such a critical feature of the browser and then calling it "innovation" is the direction Opera is heading, then Opera may not for me. Sad, since I've been a big fan of Opera since the days it fit on one floppy disk -- over 20 years.
@sgunhouse Needing to go to my desktop to get a bookmark and then 'flowing' it to the phone sort of defeats the purpose of having a browser on your phone.
@leocg That's crazy. How do I maintain large numbers of bookmarks? When I sync bookmarks from my desktop, where do they go? How do I search for a bookmark (or something on the start page), or do I just scroll forever? Are they using History as if it was bookmarks? Do they simply assume all visited sites are bookmarked and then I have to delete anything I DON'T want to be bookmarked?
Is this just an oversight? Is there any hope that Opera will come to their senses and give us bookmarks, like every other browser in the universe?
I just installed the new Opera Touch and I can't figure out where the heck they've hidden the bookmarks! You can't use a browser without bookmarks so why make it hard to find? Can anyone clue me in to the secret hiding place?
