Use Opera Mail in Opera 12 instead. That way, you get a fully-functional Opera Mail with all the other stuff like Notes etc. (as opposed to an experimental, unfinished, buggy, standalone Opera Mail). In preferences, under "advanced -> programs", you can add/set http and https to open with your default browser.
