@daria19 Extended Stable is now at Chromium 130.0.6723.70, why can't Opera be as up to date as possible? https://chromereleases.googleblog.com/2024/10/stable-channel-update-for-desktop_22.html
@HealingCross316 Nvm. Got confused. But yeah... it's a month old at least.
@leocg It used to be more consistent, and the Chromium version in Dev had always been +2 versions ahead of whatever it was in the Stable channel. In the last year of so, things simply stagnated. There is no innovation here when it comes to pulling Chromium version that they don't even build from the ground up apart from the UI, which I really like, even more so than Chrome. I have a gut feeling they are using Aria to write their changelogs these days. "We have a new Chromium version to go with Dev for improved security", but in fact, the Chromium version was at least 2 months old by the time it got incorporated.
I guess Opera just needed a bad PR from some security analysts and it will prompt them to ship Chromium faster.
@HealingCross316 I would say Brave as they ship Chromium updates quite fast and is open source.
@HealingCross316 I don't believe such a vague statement.
I think at this point Opera should really cut down three streams to just two, keeping stable and beta only, if they don't have the resources to keep it. Making Chromium up to date should be their priority and not backporting, which simply makes technical debt worse.
@daria19 Did I miss an update last week? Can you confirm that all security patches are up to date with Opera?
@healingcross316: I wouldn't count on Opera to deliver them anytime before Opera 114. The latest extended stable for Chrome is already at 128.0.6613.137 (https://chromereleases.googleblog.com/search/label/Extended Stable updates), but Opera 114 is still lagging behind. Unsurprisingly, the latest Opera 115 (Dev) is still based on Chromium 128.0.6613.7, whereas Chrome Dev is already 130.
Awesome. It is strange that they didn't adopt the same version number as the equivalent extended stable release https://chromereleases.googleblog.com/2024/05/extended-stable-channel-update-for_23.html
110.0.5130.35 with Chromium version:124.0.6367.221 is out!

@leocg and that exists per Google? That's why it's called a zero day.
"Google is aware that an exploit for CVE-2024-4947 exists in the wild." Maybe not for you, it is very easy to trick users to open links.
@leocg this is not true at all. Most people don’t take precautions when browsing the internet and you literally don’t have to do anything but to simply visit a crafted page.
@burnout426 hi, nice find and very interesting read, but also that’s mainly for new major version. As for security fixes, according to the author;

A slightly modified, less complicated variant of the above process can be used to perform such minor version updates, and in our case this smaller process usually takes just a few hours.
“””
I have no objection with Opera delaying major version upgrade, at the very minimum, at least keeping up to date with extended stable.
@adam1709 I know right. I’m starting believe that they don’t have a CI pipeline behind it, and everything has to be checked manually. Didn’t they skip a stable release last week?
“Im not that worried coming from a mod” is worrying, even though they are supposedly an ordinary user.
@leocg If only they care to mention them in their blog posts. This is seriously unacceptable. I mentioned this a couple of time in the past only to get downvoted by you. Thankfully this time around a number of people are care to bring this out again and it is quite concerning the way Opera is dealing with security vulnerabilities.
The latest Chromium version for 118 should be 118.0.5993.54 or at least 118.0.5993.32 (released on September 28, 2023), no?
Whoa! Thanks your swift action with updating Chromium! Keep it up with the good work!
