Back again. My second post above turned out to be false. It has nothing to do with Safari. There is something else going on. When I reinstall Opera it works properly for a few days, ie when I click on a link it opens in Opera full-screen. After a few days when I click on a link in an email, the desktop appears. The link HAS opened in Opera but I have to navigate to Opera. This may sound like a detail but when it happens each time you click on a link, hundreds of times a day, it gets old. Can anyone help here? Are there others who have experienced this? GL

RE: .wav fileOpera for Mac
Hi avl. Interesting. These work for me as well. It's like this: The site I was referring to is a Scrabble site and you need to have an annual subscription to play there. Thus I could send you a link but you wouldn't get in. When you use all seven of your letters for one word a little file called hall.wav plays off and you hear applause. I don't really care about hearing the applause, that's not the point. The file is not played, instead Opera downloads it and they end up in my Download folder and pile up there. Safari, Firefox, Chrome, all just play the file. They don't download it. That's a bit of a clearer description of what is going on.

RE: Problem Using Opera Full ScreenOpera for Mac
I've done a bit more work on this and have a working theory now. I use Safari from time to time for reasons that are irrelevant here. At those times I generally make Safari the "default browser" in settings. When I'm done with what I'm doing I close Safari and make Opera the default browser again. But when I click on a link in mail there still seems to be a connection to Safari -- but Safari is no longer the default browser and so the desktop opens. When I close Opera and restart it this seems to "reset" and the link begins to open again in Opera. I wonder if others have observed this?

RE: .wav fileOpera for Mac
Thanks for your response. I haven't checked in for a while, thus the time-lapse. No, sorry, no link. It's just a very small .wav file and because it can't play they collect in my download folder and at some point I delete eight or nine of them.

Problem Using Opera Full ScreenOpera for Mac
Greetings. I use Opera on OS X 10.11.1. When I get an email with a link and click it, the desktop appears. The link HAS opened in Opera but I have to navigate to Opera to see it. For some reason I have been unable to figure out, clicking on the link causes the desktop to appear. Yesterday I created a new user and started using Opera. The links began opening in Opera as they should. Today the desktop started reappearing again. I quit Opera. I switched to Safari. The links opened in Safari. I quit Safari and reopened Opera. The links again started opening in Opera. Does anyone have an idea what the cause of this could be? Something in the preferences or the .plist?
Thanks. GL

.wav fileOpera for Mac
Greetings. I just switched to Opera yesterday. Very impressed and delighted. You knew there would be a BUT though. Yes, there is one web application that I use incessantly which sends a small .wav file down the line from time to time. I could do without the notification but instead of playing it arrives in the downloads notification in the upper right corner of the screen and sits there until I dispatch it. It interrupts the flow. I would ideally like to be able to activate Quicktime or ANOTHER plugin so that it plays or find some way to turn off the download of the file so that the interruption doesn't occur. If anybody out there has an idea I'd really appreciate it. GL
