I remember few months ago installing FF 18 on one machine, and it is unstable RAM eating hog (pretty much same what "new" opera is)
they are now at what ? 25 - 26 ? - and nothing has changed
rapid release cycle = no time for bug tests nor proper bug fixes, and feature creep - bloating every new version with more and more untested stuff

in fact Presto was always best at W3C standards
it was just the fact that webkit became dominant, no matter how shitty it is
so certain pages were either made just for sakes of webkit and started to block Opera completely
try to go to icloud.com with "older opera", you will get "Unsupported browser" error crap and be blocked
now hack your output to lets say Firefox 25, behold the miracle, no error message and webpage works perfectly fine

I don't see why so much bitching around when even v11.5x & 11.6x work just fine

anything above 12 cannot be considered a browser

did you even try to run "new" opera on single core cpu ? with 1 to 2 GB RAM ?
did you noticed that every "installed" plugin takes the same amount of sys resource as original app does ?
put 4 most simplest plugins and it will hog down system while browsing simple 2 or 3 pages
you'll lose 1 GB memory just like that, for what ? - nothing !

problem with answer "lets hope old things get implemented" is that Presto versions were Lite (well 12 wasn't)
while these ones with webkit are horrendus PC resource hogs
so not only reimplementing features will do nothing, but you will still have Heavy resource browser
when I click on "message" button of another person profile
it redirects me to https://mail.opera.com
yes but it asks me to create some new profile for something that Opera will discontinue anyway
