Yes... Opera sucks now. I just did a search for "new opera versions suck" and found this thread. I understand that this might not be the proper forum, but I also want to vent with the OP.
I've been limping by with Opera 12.16 on my old laptop for a while, waiting for these new Chrome versions (15, 17, 18, now 19?) to stop sucking. I just installed 18 on my new laptop... Nope, still sucks. I've been using Opera for 8 years now and it looks like it is finally going to fail me. Really, Opera link doesn't even work? They've made it even more annoying to search with something besides Google? Bahh..
Maybe part of the Opera Dev team could pick back up where they left off with the Opera 12 platform and just keep fine tuning that engine.

Waking up an old thread... I've been running Opera 12.14 rather than the new Chrome versions, I'm just curious: How's the latest Chrome version? (Opera 23) Does it still suck compared to the 12.x era? Or has Opera finally gotten it back to being an awesome browser?

Yes... Yes I actually do feel a little bit better. But not because of your cheeky post. Only because I uninstalled Opera 18 and installed Opera 12.14 I downloaded 12.16 but before installing I remembered that I needed to roll back just a little bit more to avoid the "fix" that prevented permanent changes to the default search engine.
I suppose I will keep running 12.14 on my computers until either:
A) The link / synchronization stops working with Opera 12.
Opera finally gets their crap together with the new versions. Maybe version 21 or 22 will work.

Perhaps other Opera uses that google "New Opera Versions Suck" will come across this post and find it helpful. Here, I'll make it even more helpful with a link to Opera 12.14:
