How do I get the wretched bookmark bar to stay off? Every time I add or even view a bookmark the darn thing comes back to the top of the screen, usually soliciting contributions to it although sometimes with Amazon (.com not the .ca which I already have bookmarked) in place. The problem is worst in the stable version, almost as bad in the beta and just annoying in the developer (all versions are up to date). All of the computers are on W10 and up to date.

@pitkali It does indeed fail on each browser restart though the problem seems to be restricted to Windows 10. Downloading 4.3 fixed the problem on one machine but Chrome is stubbornly holding onto 4.2 on another. I'm going to get a bigger hammer.
Thanks for the pointer. That seemed to work but now it's just failing for no apparent reason and very frequently. I hope somebody from Opera is on the horn to the LastPass folks to tell them what they broke.
pretty sure it's last pass not opera, cause from time lastpass will ask to save user info for sites that are already saved and you JUST used lastpass to log into.
While all things are possible I wouldn't put any money on LastPass being the source of the problem. Updates to the stable and developer versions of Opera have cleared up the problem for those two. The performance in the beta version deteriorated to the point that it was being corrupted in less than an hour whether there was activity or not. I just turned off the beta version and all is now well.

updates corrupt LastPass extensionOpera for Windows
I'm running 3 current versions of Opera (stable, beta, and developer) on several computers and all copies have had LastPass corrupted by the last auto update. It repairs quickly enough but one wouldn't want this to be a regular 'feature'.
