solved my problem.

@sorenfeodor yes, a new version and a new video problem for opera, such that no other browser has.

@myswtest I am now using Opera developer version because regular Opera is unusable

@valdineidossantos Same problem here, we need an urgent update now. It is not usable like this.

The previous update made using screenshot utility crash the browser and this newest one made visiting pages crash the browser.

Opera team is drunk or what?

@leocg it was working before the upgrade so I thought they would not undo that setting without my consent, so would they? Yes!

@exoplanet I solved it by visiting easy setup (theme settings) the dark mode was disabled there even though in the general settings it was on.

I use Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon. After the last update Opera's dark mode for web pages is broken and I'm facing whiteness everywhere. I uploaded to show that my setting is correct and a web page is not dark. Under Opera Settings dark mode is on also.

Opera updated and video playback got bad again so I installed :

chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra_99.0.4844.84-0ubuntu0.18.04.1_amd64

But no luck

@niepiekm Thanks for the tip. I tried installing the same package as yours but it did not let me. Maybe because my opera is based on Chrome/97.0.4692.99

@nathaniel I tried snap version but it has its unique problems. This was 2 years ago or more.

@dark-2011111 I know that there are some solutions but i will keep switching to other browsers until an official solution comes along.

This problem still persists and I have to switch to other browsers to play youtube live videos or twitter videos, amazing!

@ultravio1et It slowed down my browser experience too. But it is still worth it until I find a better solution.

I use the extension: Dark Reader. It makes all sites dark.

I installed snap version to get rid of constant video codecs headache but it caused more problems than it solved. On top of opening applications problem now the problem of loss of saved passwords appeared. So I deleted the snap version and went back to regular opera.

I installed gnome-software from mint software center to be able to reach opera snap permissions. I gave it all permissions but my problem persists.

Seems logical but i can't find such a setting.

I recently installed Opera Snap version 55.0.2994.37. I can not open magnet torrent links or telegram links because opera can not run respective programs like transmission or telegram. I use linux mint 18.3 cinnamon. Regular opera do not have this problem but snap version unfortunately does.
