@john-phd I read through this whole crazy thread because I was having the same issue after installing Opera. People were making some absurd suggestion fixes. After not finding a solution I did some more googling, cleared cookies and cache and restarted Opera. That's it. That worked. 
Even though it's a new browser, maybe something from importing my chrome settings got corrupted. So there you go. Future peeps looking have a potential solution that doesn't require programmer level knowledge.
