@leocg I went into the install ("C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Default...") directory and copied all the personal files. Then I erased the entire folder and everything in my system that was related to Opera, hoping a complete fresh install would solve the problem and give me an Opera that can use the personal files from before. I was able to restore all bookmarks and history installing GX, but the passwords did not reappear. Regular Opera still has the same problem of just not wanting to be.

[Duplicated]Data lost and I can't restore itOpera for Windows
Dear Opera people,
After a long and tedious search for a way to contact you I am now writing you in a distrought set of mind to tell you that my Opera browser completely imploded after updating to the latest version. Downloading an older version from the archive and installing it did me no good. In fact, I tried a lot of different ways to somehow restore the software, but in the end I scrubbed my system completely of everything that is Opera.
Now, I did make a copy of all user data first which I would really like to restore somehow. I cannot access it though because of Opera no longer being viable on my machine.
I have found nothing about this problem in your forums and the Chatbot is entirely useless. So, can you help me? Or do I just have to take the loss and never ever get anywhere near Opera again?
Thank you very much
Sincerely,
Ted
