By default on your Lenovo, as said, you need to hold down FN when you hit an F key to trigger an the F key's function instead of the special Lenovo function. Or, if you want, you can disable that in your BIOS where F keys work normally and you have to hold down FN when pressing an F key to trigger Lenovo functions.
I prefer the latter.
