No. It just does an automatic repair/update The only way I even know it was working on the correct directory was by checking the dates on the files.

As for Easy Diffusion, it's not a simple matter of telling it not to install something. It does a full update of all files each time it's run, and hidden somewhere in all that is the Opera update. But I thin I have narrowed the problem down to just a memory issue. The problem with it not starting seems to have resolved itself and after several reboots, it seem to be working normally again. I did update my video drivers a few days ago, so that might have something to do with it. The lost passwords problem seems to be gone now too.

Avast and Malwarebytes both came up empty.

All that's left is the loss of drag & drop functionality, which seems to be memory related. I lost that again this morning, and that was after Opera ran out of graphics memory for pages, which I loaded it up with to see if that would break something, which it did. Stable Diffusion is also a graphics memory hog, so running low on that seems to be the cause of the problems.

Thanks for the info on importing the passwords. That's going right into a text file for future reference!

About a week ago, I installed Easy Diffusion, which installed its own copy of Opera, even though I already had Opera installed. No problem there, is just means that I can use that without having all my open tabs taking up memory.

Then I shut down my original Opera. When I went to open it again, nothing happened. I tried rebooting since maybe it was a memory issue. No go.

I ran the Opera installer. It did an update and then opened Opera. Opera then notified me there was an update available. (I thought I just did that). I ran that and it restarted.

But, every open tab just said the page was crashed. Hitting reload did nothing. Ctrl-R did nothing. The only way to reload the page was to click in the address bar and hit Enter. For every tab, and I have a lot of them open that I use all the time. That got tiring.

While doing that, I noticed it also forgot all my logins. Luckily, most of them are stored in Chrome, but again, that's a lot of logins that I have to look up in another browser and copy over. This all took about an hour.

After a reboot a day or so later, the same thing happened. The launcher shortcut did nothing. I ran the installer and it it got it launched. This time I made sure all the new logins from Opera were also in Chrome, so I have a full backup. But again, I had to click on the address bar and hit Enter to get the pages to reload.

And again, today, the same thing. I rebooted because MS had some crap they needed to install, and when I tried to run Opera, nothing. I checked the shortcut and it's pointing at the right folder. The files in there are the ones the installer updated. But it just wouldn't start until after I ran the installer again. And what happened after that? Yep, all my passwords are gone again and the pages all load up as crashed and I have to manually reload each one by hitting Enter on the address bar.

Opera has been pretty trouble free since I started using it a few years ago. I don't think I've even seen it actually crash, unlike pretty much every other browser I've tried. And I haven't even run Easy Diffusion in over a week, so that hasn't been changing anything.
