I've used another browser for years, and the passwords are saved in the cloud across all devices. But now, while using a work laptop withou Admin privileges, I decided to try out a portable installation of Opera. I'm overall impressed with the browser and its features. Was just curious about where the login information was stored. I do clear the browsing history and login info, but not at the end of every session. Rarely do that on my own devices either.

I'll look into some options. The simples is to just not save the login information and that's it. It's better than losing my flash drive and someone gaining access to my accounts if they get to a computer before I can change my passwords.

Thanks for the info. I found that these folders are in the flash drive and I can't change Opera's settings to move those to a more secure folder in the current laptop. I haven't tried it on another laptop yet, but in theory it seems like someone gaining access to my USB flashdrive will also gain access to all the websites to which I have chosen to save the login information.

It's good to know this. Maybe I need to stop being lazy and login every single time I start Opera on this machine!

Or maybe start using an Opera account to sync across machines. That should be easier, as it'd be only one login on the browser instead of a dozen logins across several websites.

I have use a portable install of Opera to run the browser at work.

Does anyone know the location of the saved passwords when we're using the portable install? Is it in a Windows folder on the computer or in the USB drive itself?

(thinking about it, I could try it on another computer and see if the login is automatic, but I can't test is now)
