Tank you leocg for your reply. I kept using Opera 12.17 till now because the status bar was still working as in all older versions. Also local file access could be restored by changing the safety policy settings. I think at present there are only a few possibilities left to make changes as formerly.

Thank you celadyn for your proposal. I work with this already in Chrome. In Opera 12.17 the cited command line in my post was recommended in order to allow file access from and to files on storage media. In Firefox I had to change two safety policy statements at the same time. The latest FF Version works again with my local files in default mode even with these statements activated. Some of the formers did not. So far I think, that there are only a few possibilities left in latest Opera builds for specific changes of safety policy or these are not discussed yet.

Hello! Former versions of Opera offered the possibility of needed changes to do by typing "opera:config#UserPrefs|AllowFileXMLHttpRequest" in order to allow file access from files on the storage mediums of the computer. How to proceed for Opera 31?
