@bassett update: just went to settings, searched for speed dial. It took me to a load of suggested returns on Opera's start page. I scrolled down, Found Hide speed dial Unchecked it and hey presto - yeeha! Google has gone!!!. So happy!!
Thus, it is possible to get rid of that Google speed search dial completely. Sadly can't reset the speed dial search bar by replacing Google with another search engine, but great to get rid of Google in your face every time I use Opera.

@bassett As already said, it's not possible to change the search engine in start page/speed dial.
thanks for replying. Sorry search didn't turn up the information that not possible - I only got the 2014 replies. Sorry state of affairs not being able to change it, but thanks anyway. Do Opera ever take any notice of comments on this page?

Google speed dial - how to reset to other search engine or delete itOpera for Windows
How to remove Google speed dial in April 2023 version of Opera please? (Win 10 laptop) I just do not like Google. Even better would be if I could change speed dial default search engine from Google to Startpage or Qwant. Can anyone help pls?. I Tried searching this forum for answer, found some responses on the forum but they date back to 2014 and don't work on current 2023 version of Opera. Google is still annoyingly appearing all the time. I've also tried to change it via >settings> advanced> add new specific page>add startpage that doesn't work and I also tried altering the default search browser but still Google won't go away.

RE: Kaspersky Password Manager ExtOpera GX
I also use Kaspersky pw manager but I can't seem to add it to Opera not even the ordinary browser, so just wondering if you could give a few hints how you managed it. It works fine in my other browsers but I do prefer to use Opera for a number of things.
