I am using Chrome OS Flex with the latest stable version as on 6th of September, 2023. After setting up the Linux container, I downloaded the Linux version of Opera browser from their website as my secondary browser. I went to watch some live videos on youtube but it showed me "Your browser can't play this video" but google chrome could play the video without any problem. I visited some other websites to watch live videos and it showed the same thing "Your browser doesn't support the playback of this video" but again google chrome was to able to play those videos without any problem. My Opera browser is totally up to date. I am new to this forum, can anyone help me?

RE: YouTube video orientationOpera for Android
@leocg I know it is a chromium issue. I have already registered a bug report on the chromium bug report channel. However I feel Google might have done this intentionally to make people use the youtube app instead. If that so, horrible decision I must say. Evil.

RE: YouTube video orientationOpera for Android
@leocg This is why we are talking about this issue, 10 or 12 days ago all of us could watch youtube on the landscape mode with autorotation turned off, and after an update from playstore it just stopped playing on the landscape mode. Install Mozilla Firefox and you will notice that youtube videos are playing just fine on the landscape mode with autorotation turned off. The problem is with chromium and the developers are extremely slow to fix, people will probably have to wait a month or more to get it fixed considering most of us keep autorotation off. Or you may have to use a non chromium browser like Firefox, which I did.

@leocg is your autorotation turned on? Most people like me turn off the screen rotation on our phones. You need to turn rotation off and check if the videos played on the landscape mode. Earlier youtube videos used to play on the landscape mode when clicking the fullscreen option even if the screen rotation was turned off.

@mr-panther speaking of fixing, I installed Mozilla Firefox because it is not a chromium browser and the fullscreen is working fine on the landscape mode,

RE: YouTube video orientationOpera for Android
@leocg All of my browsers(Google Chrome, Opera) on android(12) are up to date and the issue is still there. It all started when the system update for the playstore had been pushed a few days ago, since then many people started facing the issue, I visited the brave forum and found a post where the users encountered the same issue

RE: YouTube video orientationOpera for Android
@mr-panther This is the problem of chromium, I have already posted a bug report on their forum but it has been more than 10 days now and no action has been taken so far. The developers of chromium are the slowest.

@vbnvbn Nope. It seems the opera browser is not fully supported by Debian 11 on Chrome OS/Flex

@leocg The Linux on chrome os runs on a separate virtual container and it is based on Debian 11 bullseye, everything seems to be working fine for opera except live videos, why is that?
