Same thing happened to me. Crash on start-- even after a reboot. I had to return to the previous version despite the warnings of Java and Silverlight soon to be unsupported. I can't get the newest version to run at all.

It should notice eventually. You can always manually upgrade in the mean time if you can't wait.

Or if you are using a Debian-based Linux distro just check for updates there and the new deb should be found right away.

Yes there is a problem here as well, resizing always reverts, even when forcing size & position in Special Window Settings.
