Hi Opera Team & Community,
I recently installed Opera Browser version 123.0.5669.23 on Windows 10 and noticed a few issues that could improve the installation and overall user experience if addressed. I wanted to share them here to help the development team refine future builds.
-
Installation progress delay
During installation, the progress bar stayed stuck at 0% for about 3 minutes, then suddenly jumped to around 70–80% in one go. It looked like the installer had frozen, and I almost closed it.
Suggestion: Display intermediate progress updates or messages like “Preparing installation files” to reassure users that it’s still running. -
Too many setup prompts post-installation
After installation, Opera displayed several setup and personalization screens (choosing default search, enabling AI features, etc.).
Feedback: It feels a bit overwhelming for new users who just want to start browsing quickly. A single, simplified setup page could make onboarding smoother. -
Typing cursor on top bar
When the browser is open, the top bar (used to drag or move the window) shows a text cursor (I-beam) instead of the regular pointer. It gives the impression that the area can’t be clicked or dragged.
Suggestion: Changing it back to the default pointer would make it more intuitive.
I’ve been a long-time Opera user and really appreciate how innovative the browser is, especially with its performance and design improvements. I hope this feedback helps make it even better.
If there’s any recognition or testing program for community members who actively report issues, I’d love to be considered. Always happy to help test and improve Opera.
Thanks for all the great work.
