Its because of Anti Virus online shield, like Avira/Avast. Goto Antivirus url exception list, add and type exactly as below:

.operavpn.com.

For US server, add this

.operavpn.com.us

After that disable antivirus online shield for time being, then open Opera and ON VPN. It should connect now but make sure you go back and enable that online shield.
